Swim Lessons

The Red Cross certified swim lessons are taught by Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certified lifeguards.  Swim lesson sessions for the 2018 summer will be as follows:

2018 Swim Lesson Registration

Session 1:  June 25th-July 6th (No lessons July 4th)

Session 2:  July 9th-July 20th

Session 3: July 23rd-August 3rd

No Session 4

Lessons will be 25 minutes in length and run from 9:00 - 10:30 am.  There will also be limited signups for the afternoon sessions which run from 5:30 - 6:30 pm.  Sessions are two weeks in length. See below for description for levels.

To provide each child with the opportunity to participate in swim lessons, we will try to guarantee each child two swim lesson sessions during the summer.  For those members who desire additional lessons, we will try to accommodate such requests to the best of our ability.  Due to the popularity of the lessons, we may not be able to honor all requests for additional lessons, or for a  particular session.  To make the most of the available time slots, we ask that the afternoon sessions be limited to children who are not able to attend one of the morning sessions.  Private lessons are also available, for an additional fee.  Children must be at least 3 years old to participate.

Parents and guardians/babysitters of those swimmers under the age of 12 are required to stay in the pool area during swim lessons.

There are six levels in the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. They are as follows:

1 Introduction to Water Skills: helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely.

2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills: gives students success with fundamental skills.

3 Stroke Development: builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.

4 Stroke Improvement: develops confidence in the strokes learned and to improve other aquatic skills.

5 Stroke Refinement: provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.

6 Swimming and Skill Proficiency: refines the strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.

Swim lesson Registration for Session 3 is online:    http://bit.ly/2KTTvyb

Note: A separate form should be filled out for each child. Parents and guardians/babysitters of those swimmers under the age of 12 are required to stay in the pool area during swim lessons.
