Registration Details

2024 Sessions - Each Lesson is 25 Minutes

All lessons are 2 week sessions.  Morning lessons will be held Monday - Friday.  Evening lessons will only be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (no Wednesdays).

Private Lessons

Private lessons are also available, for an additional fee.  Please contact the Pool Programs Chair for a list of lifeguards who are available to teach private lessons at our Club.  

The Six Levels of Learn to Swim

The skills listed for each level are what children will work on in that level.

Level 1

Introduction to Water Skills

Helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely

Blow bubbles underwater through nose, bobbing 3 times, front and back floats for 3 seconds each, front and back glides for 2 body lengths each, treading with arms and legs, enter and exit the pool using ladder or stairs.

Level 2

Fundamental Aquatic Skills

Gives students success with fundamental skills

Fully submerge and hold breath for 5 seconds, bobbing 5 times, back float for 15 seconds, front float for 5 seconds, front and back glides for 2 body lengths each, treading with arms and legs for 15 seconds, enter the pool by jumping or stepping into pool, exit the pool using ladder or stairs.

Level 3

Stroke Development

Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice

Headfirst entry from side in sitting and kneeling positions, front/survival float for 30 seconds, back float for 30 seconds, front crawl for 15 yards, elementary backstroke for 15 yards, scissor kick for 10 yards, tread water for 30 seconds, push off in streamline position on front or back, enter the pool by jumping in.

Level 4

Stroke Improvement

Develops confidence in the strokes learned and to improve other aquatic skills

Headfirst entry from side in compact and stride positions, swim underwater for 3-5 body lengths, front crawl for 25 yards and front crawl open turn, breaststroke for 15 yards, elementary backstroke for 25 yards, butterfly for 15 yards, tread water for 2 minutes, backstroke for 15 yards and back crawl open turn, push off in streamline position on front and back and use flutter kick, feet first dive submerging completely.


Level 5

Stroke Refinement

Further coordination and refinement of strokes

Alternate breathing, stride jump entry, standing dive from board, long shallow dive, breaststroke and sidestroke for 10 yards each, swim underwater for 3 body lengths, elementary backstroke for 25 yards, butterfly kick for 10 yards, front and back crawl for 50 yards each, open turn on front/back.


Level 6

Swimming & Skill Proficiency

Refines the strokes to swim with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances

Front crawl and elementary backstroke for 100 yards each, breaststroke and butterfly turns while swimming, pike surface dive submerging completely, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly for 50 yards each,  tread water for 5 minutes, front flip turn and backstroke flip turn while swimming.
